JDPC Onitsha Celebrates World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly
JDPC Onitsha marked the 2024 World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly with a heartwarming event themed “Do not cast me off in my old age.” Held at St Michael the Archangel’s Parish Fegge Onitsha, the celebration brought together a remarkable gathering of 91 elders – 50 men and 41 women – to honor their invaluable contributions to society.
A cornerstone of the event was providing essential healthcare. All attendees received free medical checks and were given necessary medications. The day was further enriched with a Holy Mass, followed by an informative health talk on the intricacies of aging and its associated challenges. To foster a sense of joy and camaraderie, the event included engaging indoor games, lively dancing, and a delightful feast of local delicacies such as ukwa vegetable, coco yam, and unripe plantain. Each participant left with a token of appreciation as a take-home gift.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Rev. Felix Ezeonu and the entire parish community for their generous support in making this event a resounding success. Their contributions were instrumental in creating a memorable day for our cherished elders.
