Empowered to Change the World: Catholic Social Teaching Takes Root in Nigeria
Do you want to create a more just and humane society in Nigeria?
Catholic Social Teaching (CST) offers a powerful framework for achieving this goal. Now, a groundbreaking initiative is equipping Nigerians to become agents of positive change.
What is Catholic Social Teaching (CST)?
CST is the social dimension of the Catholic faith. It provides a moral compass, guiding individuals and communities toward a society that reflects God’s love for all.
Building Bridges for a Better Future
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) recognizes the importance of CST in addressing social challenges. In collaboration with the Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN), Veritas University of Nigeria, Abuja (VUNA), and Catholic Relief Services (CRS), they have launched a unique program.
Phase 1: Training the Trainers
The program’s first phase focused on a “Training of Trainers” (TOT) workshop. A dedicated group of individuals have been equipped with the knowledge and skills to share CST effectively.
Phase 2: Spreading the Message
These newly certified CST trainers will now embark on the program’s second phase. They will share their knowledge with employees of all CBCN agencies, creating a ripple effect of understanding and action.
Congratulations to the Graduates
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the first graduating class of CST trainers. May God bless them as they become “pastoral agents of change, development, and salvation.”
While this program initially focuses on CBCN employees, stay tuned for future developments. This initiative has the potential to empower all Nigerians who yearn for a more just and compassionate society.
Together, let’s make a difference. Let’s embrace Catholic Social Teaching.
