On Friday, 12th April 2024, JDPC Issele-Uku Diocese led a 12-man team of medical personnel, including 11 doctors and a pharmacist, to Ogwashi-Uku Medium Correctional Centre for a medical outreach program. The program, which began at 11am, provided medical care to 148 inmates and some officers, including examinations, drug administration, and referrals for further treatment.

The team was warmly welcomed by the officer in charge of the centre, ACC John Unamba, and his team of officers. Through local advocacy efforts, JDPC Issele-Uku was able to secure the services of the medical personnel free of charge, as well as over 60% of the required drugs.

The program came to an end at about 4:38 pm, leaving a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the inmates and officers at the correctional centre. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of this program and look forward to many more initiatives like this in the future.

Help us spread the word about our medical outreach program by sharing this post with your network. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in need.
