Safeguarding Lives and Dignity: Enhancing Food Security and Strengthening Our Voice Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence
Creating a better world involves addressing various issues, including food security and the fight against sexual and gender-based violence.
As we fight to create a more fair, just, and compassionate world, we must address concerns of food security as well as the destructive issue of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). By merging these two significant issues, we may address not only the fundamental needs but also the safety and dignity of underprivileged populations.
Climate-smart agriculture can improve food security. Food security is about ensuring that everyone has reliable access to food that is safe, nourishing, and appropriate for their culture, not only about filling bellies. Increasing food security has emerged as a global imperative in a world dealing with the combination of challenges of a growing population and a changing climate. A Legal Right to Food: Humans have the fundamental right to food. No one should go to bed hungry, we must ensure.
Sexual and gender-based violence affects millions globally. It is a scourge that violates human rights, perpetuates gender inequality, and threatens the physical and psychological well-being of survivors. Human Rights Violations: SGBV infringes on the basic human rights of safety, dignity, and freedom.
A capacity and needs assessment, or “end-line assessment,” was recently carried out by Caritas Nigeria for the Catholic Archdioceses of Ibadan and Benin City on October 1–3, 2023, in the Oredo Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State.
The exercise also aimed to evaluate the advancements made in improving the ability and readiness of the Archdioceses to successfully meet the various humanitarian and developmental difficulties local communities face.
Together, we can create a world where lives are nourished, dignity is upheld, and safety is paramount. We are Caritas Nigeria. Fullness of life for all.
