Sokoto Diocese Plants Trees for a Greener Future
The Catholic Diocese of Sokoto is taking a stand for environmental sustainability through a new tree-planting initiative. Organized by the Bakhita Initiative (JDPC Sokoto), the program kicked off with a ceremony at St. Patrick’s Illela Parish.
Adding gravitas to the event were Very Rev. Fr. Nuhu Iliya, Vicar Administration, and JDPC staff members. Joining them were enthusiastic students from St. Patrick’s Schools Illela, who actively participated in the planting. This initiative aims to combat desertification and restore the natural beauty of the region.
Twenty neem tree seedlings found new homes in the school and parish grounds, symbolizing a commitment to environmental protection and a sustainable future. By involving students, the program fosters awareness and educates the next generation on the importance of environmental conservation.
The Sokoto Diocese’s tree-planting initiative is a remarkable step towards a greener future for the community. Let this effort inspire others to join the fight for a healthier planet.
