Archbishop Martins who was represented by the CBCN Episcopal Chairman of Family and Human Life, Most Rev. Sylvester Luka Gopep, disclosed this during his keynote address at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Department of Church and Society of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, CSN.

According to the Bishop, the Catholic church is well-known for its humanitarian efforts throughout the world. As a result, the AGM 2023 will bring academics, professionals, and pastoral workers together to discuss the implications and create a framework for the future that is informed by practice. This is because the marginalized poor in society now look to the Church to address poverty on many fronts. As the curtains draw on an inspiring journey, we are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our Annual General Meeting. This year’s theme, “Economic Empowerment and Capacity Strengthening for Self-Reliance and Community Resilience,” has set the stage for a future filled with promise and empowerment.

Our AGM was a melting pot of ideas, insights, and shared wisdom. Engaging in discussions fueled our understanding of economic empowerment and community resilience, leaving us enriched and inspired. Witnessing the power of collaboration was truly heart-warming. Every voice, every contribution, and every connection made has paved the way for a stronger, more resilient community.

The workshops were not only exercises. They served as training grounds for expertise. Giving everyone the means to achieve economic empowerment guarantees a more promising and independent future for all. Every conversation, every compromise, and every minute spent together sowed the seeds of resilience in our community. These seeds will sprout into a forest of resilience, cohesion, and unflinching independence.

As we reflect on our time together, we celebrate the achievements of our members, partners, and the entire community. Your dedication is the heartbeat of our success. This success is not just ours. It belongs to each one of you who contributed passion, dedication, and enthusiasm to make this Annual General Meeting a triumph. Together, we’ve laid the groundwork for a future where economic empowerment is a reality for all, and our community stands resilient against any challenge. As we bid adieu to this year’s AGM, let’s carry the energy and inspiration forward. Let’s continue to empower, strengthen, and uplift, ensuring that the principles of self-reliance and community resilience guide our every step.

Thank you for being an integral part of this journey. Here’s to a future filled with endless possibilities.

With heartfelt gratitude.
