The Diocese, which began as an Independent Mission in 1991, became an Apostolic Vicariate in 1996, and was elevated to a Diocese in 1999, has flourished into a vibrant spiritual community.

In a statement, the Vicar General of the Diocese, Very Rev. Fr Michael Adefemi Adegbola, expressed profound gratitude to God for His faithfulness over the years.

He reflected on the Diocese’s journey from humble beginnings, acknowledging the pastoral impact it has had on countless lives, particularly in shaping young minds and fostering character development.

The Silver Jubilee also coincided with the priestly ordination anniversaries of Rev. Fr Iliya Dandabo and Rev. Fr Linus Ogugua, for whom the Diocese gave thanks.

Rev. Fr Adegbola also paid tribute to deceased missionaries and pastoral agents, praying for their eternal rest.

However, amidst the celebrations, the Vicar General did not shy away from addressing the harsh realities facing the community, lamenting the ongoing economic difficulties and the violence that has afflicted many innocent people.

He called for prayers for healing, comfort, and peace for those affected by these tragedies.

The Vicar on behalf of the Diocese, welcomed guests to the celebration, expressing hope and trust in God’s plan for the future, while reaffirming the Diocese’s commitment to spiritual growth and communal unity.

“Long live the Catholic Diocese of Kano! Long live Kano State! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!” he declared.
