Bishop Umoren Urges Christian Mothers to Embrace Truth and Patience at 9th Anniversary of CCM
At the 9th Anniversary celebration of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers (CCM) held at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Pro-Cathedral, Abuja. Auxiliary Bishop Most Rev. Anslem Umoren we delivered a poignant message urging Christian mothers to root themselves in truth and patience.
In his homily, Bishop Umoren lamented the erosion of these virtues in contemporary society, linking Nigeria’s challenges to a lack of kindness and patience. He encouraged the mothers to acknowledge their realities honestly, saying, “If you’re sick, say it. Don’t say you’re strong.”
The event marked the solemn reception of over 100 new members into the Confraternity, reinforcing the commitment of women to embody the virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Bishop Umoren called on them to be pillars of strength in their homes and communities, emulating Mary’s unwavering faith and resilience.
Mother Hope I. Cole, President of the CCM, emphasized the importance of steadfast prayer and service in navigating family life’s challenges. She expressed gratitude for Bishop Umoren’s leadership, which continues to inspire the Confraternity’s mission.
The ceremony featured reflections from various leaders, including Rev. Fr. Massdiile Onyenibeadi, who traced the CCM’s origins back to the 1950s in France, and emphasized the unique roles of the CCM and the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO).
The day also included a heartfelt appeal from Mother Veronica Abhulime, urging new mothers to follow Mary’s example of humility and dedication. The event concluded with a solemn Mass and an award presentation to the most active past president, Mother Christiana N. Oburo.
This anniversary served as a moment of deep reflection and renewed commitment for the women of the CCM, reinforcing their roles as spiritual leaders and caretakers of their families.
